Self-Rescue Concepts
Prepare yourself for the unexpected.
An important training for those aspiring to climb routes in remote areas and multi-pitch climbs. Or simply for climbers who want to minimize risk and be prepared to respond in case of injuries or technical problems.
You will learn the basic self-rescue techniques, using minimal climbing gear. These techniques include escaping the belay, creating mechanical advantages (3:1, 5:1), rope ascension, etc. You will then practice a few variants of the following scenarios :
- Rescue of the lead climber
- Rescue of the second climber
Each scenario includes several variables that will influence your decision-making.
The decision-making process during rescues, risk management in general, and emergency response plans will be covered throughout the week-end.
A comprehensive course for climbers who want to undertake adventures responsibly and take charge of risk management.
